TODAY’S GOSPEL THEME: The foolish and
unprepared will miss heaven's wedding feast but those who are prepared with
their lamps lit will inherit the kingdom and have a place at the heavenly
banquet.
Youth Group – Our New Youth Group began on
Friday November 10th from 7 – 9. Since
this note goes to press every Wednesday, I will let you know next week how
things transpired at our first meeting.
Totus Tuus – We have registered for the Totus
Tuus Summer Camp from Monday July 15 to Friday July 19. I will let you know
when the registration materials arrive at the parish.
Resettlement Bazaar – The resettlement bazaar
was very successful last weekend and I would like to thank all those who worked
so hard preparing and working on the day. Thanks to all those who attended and
supported this event.
Tree Lighting and Evening with Santa – Our
annual tree blessing and lighting will take place on Saturday evening December
2 after the 5pm Mass. The festivities will continue downstairs where there will
be children’s Christmas snowflake bingo, food refreshments and music. This year
we are selling tickets to this event so that we know how many people are
attending and also to cover the cost of the food. Tickets are available after
Mass in the vestibule or from the office during the week.
Statue of St. Dominic – The committee who
prepare our Sunday refreshments after the 9:30 Mass have requested that we have
a statue of St. Dominic in our church. They have been fund-raising for a while
now and have $1800.00 thus far. The approximate cost is $10,000.00. They are
holding a bake sale on November 26th after both Masses in aid of the statue.
Christmas Concert – In honour of Our Lady,
Coro San Marco will be coming back to St. Dominic to perform a Christmas
Concert on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Friday Dec. 8. At 8 pm.
Tickets will be available in the vestibule and from the office during the week.
The cost for this concert is $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for children under
12. As many of you know, we thoroughly
enjoyed their last performance and I am looking forward to this one. Please
spread the word and invite your friends and family. Proceeds from this concert
are divided equally between the choir and St. Dominic Church.
Enrollment Weekend – Please remember that all
students preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will be
enrolled and given their cross at any of the Masses on December 2 at 5 pm or
December 3rd at 9:30 am or 11:30 am. All parents are expected to attend this
ceremony with their children.
First Reconciliation – please remember that
the Sacrament of First Reconciliation will be celebrated on Tuesday, December
5th beginning with Mass at 7 pm and again on December 9th beginning with Mass
at 9:15 am.
Advent Wreath Sign-up sheets – The sign-up
sheets are at the back of the church for families who wish to light the candles
on the Advent Wreath this year
Advent Day of Confessions – Tuesday December
12th from 10:30 – noon, 2pm - 4pm, 7:30
pm, (after 7 pm mass) until – 9 pm.
