ANNUAL FAMILY PASTA DINNER – Many thanks to all who worked so hard to make the pasta dinner so successful last weekend. I am indebted to the members of our school councils at Queen of Heaven, St. Dominic and St. Paul, as well as the ladies from the parish who came together to make this happen. Our students from our three schools and some from Applewood Heights Secondary School, were amazing, both on Friday and Saturday. It is wonderful to see our students taking part in parish events. Approximately 150 people attended the evening and I thank you for your support of the parish. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus for preparing and running the bar during the evening. Last Saturday was a perfect example of what can be done when we all band together, have fun, work hard and make things happen in the parish. At this point, we are still settling receipts but we will know more by next weekend. Many thanks again to all!!
ANNUAL HARVEST BAZAAR – Saturday October 1, 9am – 3pm.  Sign-up sheets for helpers and bakers are in the vestibule of the church. In order for this bazaar to be successful, we need your help. The harvest bazaar is one of our major fund-raisers of the year. Please let your friends and family know about the event and encourage them to come and have a great time. Please see the flyer in today’s bulletin outlining the different booths.
ST. DOMINIC MINISTRY FAIR – October 22/23 after all Masses. This event will give you an opportunity to join one of our ministries or committees. We always welcome new volunteers.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALOWEEN PARTY FOR FAMILIES – Saturday October 29, following 5pm Mass. More information will be available in the bulletin as we approach the date.
ANNUAL RESETTLEMENT BAZAAR – Saturday November 12, 9am – Funds raised at the resettlement bazaar go directly to the Resettlement Committee in order that they continue the tradition of welcoming refugee families to Mississauga. This is extremely important work, especially given the times in which we live.
PASTORAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS – We will begin the process of elections this weekend and finish at the ministry fair on October 22/23.
CONFIRMATION - Registration for Confirmation for grade 7 will be in January 2017. The sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred on the weekend of June 3 and 4, Pentecost Sunday at all Masses. There will also be an extra Mass that weekend, at 2 PM.
ALTAR SERVERS – Many thanks to Jennifer Barber who has worked for the past several years scheduling our altar servers. Welcome to Natalie Mete and Christi Robert who are the new coordinators. They are preparing a handbook for altar servers in preparation for a meeting of all servers on SUNDAY OCTOBER 2 AT 2PM. Please mark this date in your calendars. All servers’ attendance is very important.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SOONER THAN LATER

I need volunteers for the following:
First Confession and First Communion Meetings – I need 3 or 4 people to help on registration days, September 25th and 27th.  I also need people to prepare the refreshments at all meetings. The ideal situation is to have a team who could take turns, making the work easier for all.
Confirmation – I am looking for a Confirmation coordinator who can oversee the program. I also need help with registration in Jan. 2017 and facilitators who can help at 4 classes, taking our students through the confirmation manual, Anointed for Mission.
Please call me or email me if you can help. 905-278-7762 ext 2 or pjones@stdominicschurch.ca

I wish you all a good week.

Sincerely,

Fr. Phil
