Congratulations
to all of our children who received First Holy Communion last weekend. It was a
pleasure speaking with them at the homily time about the 'party'. I hope that
their parents were happy with the new seating arrangements this year. Thanks to
everyone for your cooperation with this seating arrangement for First
Communion. At the 2 pm Mass, the church was three quarters filled, so it was
very worthwhile having the extra Mass. I look forward to seeing the children
and their families at the Eucharist every Sunday.
Education
Week in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board begins today until
Friday. We are very fortunate in Ontario
to still have our Catholic Schools. It is at school, at home and in the parish
where our children have their faith nurtured on a daily basis but our schools
play a key role in that development. I am happy to say that we at St. Dominic
Parish enjoy a wonderful relationship with our Catholic Schools, St. Dominic,
Queen of Heaven, St. Paul Secondary and Archbishop Romero Secondary. We will be
celebrating our Education Week Mass with Queen of Heaven and St. Dominic on
Wednesday May 4 at 9:15 and with St. Paul Secondary on Friday May 6 at 1 pm.
Everyone is invited to celebrate with our schools. Many thanks to our Principals,
Michelle McCann, Queen of Heaven, Caroline Athaide, St. Dominic and Carmel
Murphy, St. Paul, for speaking at all Masses this weekend and for all their
support to our parish. I do appreciate it a lot!
Many
thanks to all who came out to support our Roast Beef Dinner last Saturday and
to all those who helped in any way. I am still compiling my list of helpers and
the proceeds and will put those in the bulletin next weekend.
Please
remember our Mother's Day Brunch next weekend,
Mother's Day weekend, May 7-8, after ALL Masses in the hall. Gourmet
French Toast, scrambled eggs, bacon or ham, tea and coffee, juice, fruit cup
and cheesecake are all on the menu. Tickets are available after all Masses or
from the office during the week.
Yesterday,
April 30th, we had our Confirmation retreat and I would like to thank Anne
Brisbois - Abbot, parishioner and former High School Chaplain and Flo Piante,
current Chaplain at St. Paul, for conducting the retreat with our students. I
am looking forward to our celebration of Confirmation on May 17-18 weekend.
