First Holy Communion
I would like to congratulate all of our children who received their
First Holy Communion last weekend. Thank-you for the wonderful dialogue and
answers during the homily. I was certainly impressed with your knowledge and
understanding of what the Eucharist really means. Congratulations and thanks to
your families, your friends and your teachers here at St. Dominic for guiding
you to this special day. I hope that you continue to join us at the table of
the Lord every Sunday at Mass. Special thanks to our parish catechist, Bev
O’Grady, and all of her helpers, for directing the First Communion Program!
The Good Shepherd
The Scriptures describe God as a shepherd who brings security and peace
to his people. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from
this time forth and for evermore. Even the leaders of God's people are
called shepherds: they shall lead them out and bring them in; that the
congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep which have no shepherd (Numbers
27:17). Just as a shepherd kept watch over his sheep and protected them from
danger, so Jesus stands watch over us, his people, as the Shepherd and
Guardian of our souls.
Happy Mother’s Day
Today is Mother’s Day and I wish all of our mothers in the parish every
grace and blessing on your special day! May your days be marked with untold joy
and peace for all that you are and all that you have done for your children and
your families!
