From the Desk of Fr. Phil

Many thanks to our Knights of Columbus Council for hosting Oktoberfest last weekend. The company, the food and the German band all contributed to a wonderful and fun evening. Thanks to the students from Castlebrook Secondary School in Brampton, under the direction of their culinary teacher, Mr. Wilson, for the fine food they prepared for us. Thanks to our own St. Paul’s students, under the direction of Betty Alilovic, a teacher at St. Paul, for their help setting up beforehand, cleaning up afterwards and for the attractive decorations that spruced up the hall. To all of you who were able to attend. Your support is greatly appreciated and I trust that you had a good time!

+ The Feasts of All Saints and All Souls are almost upon us. On Friday, November 1, the Feast of All Saints, there will be 2 Masses, one at 8:00 AM and another at 7:30PM. On Saturday, November 2, the Feast of All Souls, the morning Mass will be at 10:00AM in order to allow more people to attend.  Please remember to put the names of your loved ones whom you wish to be remembered during November, the month of the holy souls, into the book of remembrance at the front of the church. They will all be remembered at every Mass all month long. +

Please remember that St. Paul Catholic Secondary School is collecting goods to be shipped to Jamaica in November. Please leave your donations in the hall or drop off at the school, thank-you!!

A note about the new Offertory Envelopes for 2014: If your envelope number is greater than number 600, please note that you will have a new number assigned to you for January 2014 and following. If your number is 600 or lower, your envelope number will remain the same.

Christmas cakes and Christmas cards will be sold here again this year. I am looking for volunteers to help with this project after all Masses on the weekends of December 7/8, 14/15, 21/22. Please call the office if you are able to help.

There is going to be another much-anticipated concert on Fri Nov 22 at 8PM featuring our choirs and several professional guest artists.  Our last concert sold out and was a huge success.  Tickets will be on sale starting Nov. 2 for $20 each.  Be sure to get your tickets early! More details to follow next week.

November 11th: Please bring, as soon as you can, any memorabilia you wish to be displayed on our Remembrance Table for Remembrance Day.

A special note to all the kids in the parish: Please be safe next Thursday evening as you go out for Halloween. The church parking lot often becomes a speedway/shortcut from Cawthra to Atwater after dark and so, in order to ensure your safety and avoid any mishaps, your Halloween treats are here for you to take today after every Mass. Many thanks to Mrs. Nga Mete for providing your treats. Stay tuned next week too as there just might be seconds!! Happy Halloween!

Wishing you all a great week!
