Once again I regret not being present
for another celebration, The Sacrament of Confirmation. I would like to
congratulate those who have been confirmed, their sponsors and families. Many
thanks to those who co-ordinated the confirmation program. I will say more
about all of this later.
A note about my journey: Today is
May 15th and I am still in Trillium Hospital. I have just been advised that I
need a 4th surgery. The proposed operation will be a bi-pass on my left leg.
Please continue to keep me in your prayers. I look forward to seeing all of you
when I return
Fr. Phil

This
weekend we celebrate the major feast of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy
Spirit upon the apostles and the Virgin Mary. It is fitting that we should be
celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation on our elementary school students. It
is interesting that on Pentecost Day there were many Jews gathered in Jerusalem
from all the nations of the earth and the apostles were given the gift of
tongues so that they could communicate the Word of God to them in their own
language. Let us pray that this Pentecost the Holy Spirit will come down on us
as we celebrate our community of faith, Alive in Christ Jesus in all our
diversity and unity.
