The Roman Missal – WHAT NEW TRANSLATION?
Did you know that the translation of the Mass which we currently use is going to change?
The texts we have now have been in use since 1970 and on November 27, 2011, churches throughout North America will begin to use a new translation. This moment in the life of the church provides us with an opportunity to learn more than just words that are a little different than what were used to. It is a chance for us to reflect on the celebration of the Eucharist and how it relates to our own life. In addition to discussing the new Roman Missal in homilies, pulpit announcements and in our parish bulletin, the Archdiocese of Toronto also has extensive resources online for those who with to learn more. Visit www.archtoronto.org/romanmissal anytime to continue your reflection. Beginning on September 25, 2011, we will begin introducing the new musical settings and the textual changes, both in what the priest speaks during Mass, and your responses.  This is a huge change from what we are accustomed to but working together to implement the new Liturgy, will, in the end, benefit all of us and give more meaning to our Liturgy and our prayers. Every week, beginning today, I will talk about the changes and how they relate to the different parts of the Mass.
Looking forward to these tremendous teaching moments in the life of the Church.
