17th  Sunday In Ordinary Time July 26, 2020

Jesus relates three parables in the Gospel. Each of them speaks about the price of being a part of the Kingdom of God. It takes wisdom and costly choices on the part of those who want be a part of the Kingdom of God. It means giving up all other values in order to be a part of God and the divine plan. The Reign of God in our life both demanding and rewarding. It is not something which comes easy or without a price. If we really want to be part of God’s plan, it means we have to have wisdom. That wisdom will lead us to make right choices. Wisdom will also help us to see the big picture. Sometimes we get caught up with the little picture that we fail to see God’s wisdom in action. We focus on our own suffering and problems and do not see that God is at work even in, especially during, those difficult times in our lives. God loves us and wants us to be a part of the divine plan. God’s plan for us is to be in the Kingdom of God, to be sharing as royal heirs in the kingdom of God. As we experience those rough times and want to sell out to a life of leisure or pleasure, God promises us a rich reward in the divine Reign. We have seen examples of people who sought their own pleasure rather than Good for others over the last couple months, and prolonged and worsened the pandemic. They have not been patient, and caused others to become virus patients in the hospital and even die. The lord Jesus says it will take a full commitment on our part m. We must be willing to give up all the things that we hold as valuable in order to buy into this treasure beyond all other treasures. It means that in the face of difficulties, we will have to fully trust in the Lord, believing that God will make everything turn out right in the end. It also means we have to be patient in order to see the fulfillment of God’s plan. If we are willing to be a part of God’s kingdom, we will have to pay the price, sometimes a very costly personal price, of giving up our way, our plan, our desires, our pleasures. God loves each of us and offering us a share in the kingdom. We must be willing to choose the correct paths. We need God’s wisdom. We will have to make sacrifices, and maybe even suffer, but God will make all those difficulties well worth our suffering. God has a plan and will make it work out, if we are willing to be wise and patient. For all things work out for  the good of those who are called according to God’s plan.

POPE FRANCIS’S PRAYER TO MARY :

(For protection from the Coronavirus)

O Mary, you shine continuously in our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the sick. At the foot of the cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to confirm ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us , through the cross, to the joy of the Ressurrection. Amen.  We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas-we who are put to the test-and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and Blessed Virgin.
