Welcome
back to all our parishioners who have been away this summer!! I hope you all
enjoyed your vacation. School has begun once again and I hope that our
students, teachers, principals and vice-principals experienced a great first
week. I wish all those in our schools a wonderful and fruitful year of learning
and spirituality. I will be getting together with our principals and
vice-principals for a meeting regarding school Masses and the various
celebrations that take place between our parish and our schools on September
20th. I would like to welcome our new Principal, Mr. Jim Horvath, and new
Chaplain, Jim McLevey, at St. Paul Secondary School. I look forward to working
with them this year.
We
are kicking off the new school year with several fund-raisers in the parish.
Please note that these events are extremely important to the daily operation of
our parish. Your help and attendance at these events not only ensures financial
success but they are great opportunities to build community with fellow
parishioners.
These are the up-coming
events in the parish:
ANNUAL FAMILY PASTA DINNER –
Saturday September 17th at 7pm. This year’s event is being prepared
and sponsored by the members of our Parent Councils at St. Dominic, Queen of
Heaven and St. Paul Catholic Schools. Tickets are available after each Mass
this weekend and from the office during the week. Your support will be greatly
appreciated.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
RECRUITMENT SUNDAY – September 10/11 and 24/25 after
all Masses. Please consider joining the Knights of Columbus, St. Dominic
Council. Their primary mandate is to be of assistance to the parish where and
when it is needed. They have been a tremendous help to St. Dominic since their
inception in 2012.
ANNUAL HARVEST BAZAAR –
Saturday October 1, 9am – 3pm. Sign-up sheets for helpers and bakers are in the
vestibule of the church. In order for this bazaar to be successful, we need
your help.
ST. DOMINIC MINISTRY FAIR –
October 22/23 after all Masses. This event will give you an opportunity to join
one of our ministries or communities. We always welcome new volunteers.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALOWEEN
PARTY FOR FAMILIES – Saturday October 29, following
5pm Mass. More information will be available in the bulletin as we approach the
date.
ANNUAL RESETTLEMENT BAZAAR –
Saturday November 12, 9am – 3pm. While funds from the pasta dinner and harvest
bazaar go directly to our parish, monies raised at the resettlement bazaar go
directly to the Resettlement Committee in order that they continue the
tradition of welcoming refugee families to Mississauga. This is extremely
important work, especially given the times in which we live.
REGISTRATION FOR SACRAMENTAL
PREPARATION – 2016 – 2017
First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion –
Sunday September 25 at 1:30 pm and Tuesday September 27 at 7 pm in the parish
hall. Please note that you must be registered and attending Mass at St. Dominic
in order that the sacraments be received. Please bring a copy of your child’s
baptismal certificate. If your child is not baptized, for whatever reason,
please speak with me at the registration meeting to arrange for that to happen.
