Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.

First of all, I hope you enjoyed our Christmas liturgies this year.  There are so many people who make our celebrations truly meaningful and I would like to thank them: Ministers of welcome, Eucharistic ministers, readers, altar servers and our wonderful choirs. The music adds so much to every liturgy and I would like to thank, especially, Anthony Bastianon, who directs the 9:30 choir and Sean Bator, who directs the folk choir. All the music was wonderful, as usual. Thank-you to Jennifer Van de coevering, the director and our budding actors and actresses who performed the Christmas pageant so well on Christmas Eve.. One of our groups, the counting team, works behind the scenes downstairs every Sunday but at Christmas and the New Year, do double duty because of the number of Masses. Many thanks to all of you for your dedication to this work. Thank-you to so many people who took the gift tags from the giving tree in the vestibule. Because of your generosity, our St. Vincent de Paul society was able to help over 100 families this year. Thanks to the member of St. Vincent de Paul society for organizing and carrying out this work. Thanks to our schools, Archbishop Romero, St. Paul, St. Dominic and Queen of Heaven for your generous contributions to our Christmas food and gift drive.
I trust that you enjoyed the many decorations in the church this year. Many thanks to all those who came out to help me make our church look so festive. We will be taking everything down on January 17th and I hope I have a lot of help on that day too. Thanks, too, to those who volunteered to light the candles of the advent wreath during advent.

I received so many good wishes, cards and gifts and I would like to thank all of you for your generosity. Your contributions to St. Dominic Parish are much appreciated too. As you can see in this bulletin, the financial totals speak very well of your generosity to our parish. Thank-you!

Jesus' Baptism - The Beginning of a New Creation

The Father proclaimed his entire delight in his Son and spoke audibly for all to hear. The Holy Spirit, too, was present as he anointed Jesus for his ministry which began that day as he rose from the waters of the Jordan River. Jesus will be the source of the Spirit for all who come to believe in him. At his baptism the heavens were opened and the waters were sanctified by the descent of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, signifying the beginning of a new creation.

Congratulations to Carter Michael Trip and Olivia Margarete Van Brochoven who were baptised during Mass this weekend.
