Hello
to all. I continue to recover, dealing with a couple of complications from the
surgery, but things are indeed looking up! I am looking forward to being back very
soon. Please continue to keep me in your prayers. A note about the capital campaign:
Thank
you for your support of the Family of Faith campaign! With your commitments, our parish has met the
challenge and has raised $449,368.00, which is 91% of our parish goal! Your generosity is amazing! Having achieved an amount so close to our
parish goal of $495,000, it would be so helpful if we were able to meet this
goal in the next few weeks as our Family of Faith campaign comes to a close.
As
the campaign moves into its final weeks here, please carefully consider the
commitment you can make to this historic campaign, if you haven’t already made
one. A pledge, redeemed over a five year
period, will enable our parish to do so much!
With the parish share, we plan to hire a Youth Minister, undertake
renovations to our church building, improve the washrooms in the parish hall
and renovate the drains, renovate the electrical systems in the church, and pay
down our debt to the Archdiocese. If you have not yet made a pledge, you can
contact the parish office for assistance.
I
would like to publicly acknowledge the dedicated volunteers who have helped our
parish with the Family of Faith campaign: Gary MacDonald, John Crump, David
Bain, Irene Skinner Bain, Steve Pinto, Larissa Gonsalves, Marie Jansa, Ken
Hoad, Henry Delang, Paul Horbatiuk, Christine van Driel, Rob Seidel , Paul
Cantlon, Melinda Mayo and Paul Gilkonson.
Additionally the members of the Social Committee led by Pat Hyland
assisted by providing refreshments at a number of meetings.
Parishioners
making payments against their Family of Faith pledge should send their payments
to the Family of Faith campaign with your name, payment, address, and parish
name along with the city at the following address: Family of Faith Campaign,
Donation Processing Centre, 1155 Yonge Street, Toronto ON M4T 1W2
As
part of our Family of Faith campaign, efforts to inform our parish about the implementation of our
capital projects, as well as about when the first funds from this campaign have
been dispersed to our parish, will be shared with the parish.
Again,
thank you for your leadership during this historic campaign, and for your
generosity in making sacrificial pledges that will assist our Catholic sisters
and brothers in the Archdiocese and the many needs in our own parish. God bless you for your kindness and for your
support of this important campaign.
Thanksgiving
Day Prayer
O
God, when I have food,
help
me to remember the hungry;
When
I have work,
help
me to remember the jobless;
When
I have a home,
help
me to remember those who have no home at all;
When
I am without pain,
help
me to remember those who suffer,
And
remembering,
help
me to destroy my complacency;
bestir
my compassion,
and
be concerned enough to help;
By
word and deed,
those
who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen.
Please
remember that Mass on Thanksgiving Monday is at 8 AM.
I
wish all of you, your families and friends, a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving
Weekend!Fr. Phil
