I hope you all had an enjoyable summer. I heard so many wonderful accounts of your travels to far off destinations and many others about places nearer to home. I was fortunate enough to be in Florida for two weeks in July and had a great time on the Gulf Coast. My sister and brother-in-law and nephew had a hard time coaxing me out of the ocean at the end of most days. There is nothing quite like a swim in salt water and I am looking forward to my next opportunity, whenever that will be.

I would like to welcome you all back to the parish and a special welcome to many new families who have come on board during the summer. If you are new to the parish, please be sure to register at the office during the week or after the weekend Masses.

I would like to mention our principals, vice-principals, teachers and students returning to school. Please be assured of our prayers for a productive and grace-filled academic year. In case you are unfamiliar with our parish schools, they are: St. Dominic Catholic School, Queen of Heaven Catholic School, St. Paul Catholic Secondary School and Archbishop Romero Catholic Secondary School. While St. Edmond Catholic Elementary School is outside our parish boundaries, many families attend St. Dominic Parish and I always like to include those families as well. We wish you all a great year ahead!

The Harvest Bazaar is scheduled for October 4th. I hope this will turn out to be a major parish fund-raiser every year. Many thanks to those who have signed up so far and to those who were able to attend the meeting last Wednesday evening.  If you were unable to attend and you are able to help or have a new idea for the bazaar, please let me know.

The Marriage Course Preparation dates have been set for January 16 – 17 and 23 – 24. 2015. Please register at the front office. The cost for the course is $350.00 per couple.

I hope you all have an enjoyable week ahead!
