It is with much
regret that I have missed the First Communion celebrations this weekend. First
Communion Sunday has always been very special to me as it is all about our
children and their joining us at the table of the Lord. Our ‘kids’ are the future of St. Dominic
parish and the future of the Universal Church. Every single one of us has the
responsibility of showing our children respect and encouragement as they grow
up, not only physically, emotionally and psychologically but spiritually as
well. I have surely missed the smiles on their faces, their innocence and the
sense of pride on the part of their parents. This is truly a special day in
their lives and in the life of our parish!! I would like to congratulate all of
our First Communicants and their families and wish you all every blessing on
this special day!
Many thanks to
Anthony and Mark and all musicians for the wonderful success of the concert
last Monday evening. I heard that it was a great night. Thanks to all those who
prepared the refreshments afterwards and those in the youth group who helped
make the evening so memorable. Thanks too, of course, to those who were able to
attend.
A word
about my journey: When I first realized my current health problems
last January, I had no idea I would be away this long. This time away has
certainly taught me a lot about patience and acceptance but also a great deal
of gratefulness that there is light at the end of the tunnel and I will be that
much healthier when I am back. Once again, please continue to keep me in your
prayers as I undergo my second surgery tomorrow morning.
I
look forward to being back soon!
Fr.
Phil
