Needless to say, I am very
disappointed that I was unable to attend the concert last Monday evening due to
illness. I would like to thank Anthony and Mark, our choir directors, our choir
members, the guest musicians and all of you who were able to attend. Thanks
also to the ladies who prepared the reception after the concert. I was able to hear some of the performances
and they were all first class!
Please
keep in mind that the roast beef dinner is scheduled for November 24th.
There are still tickets available. On the weekend of December 8 – 9 we will
have a guest preacher from Jamaica who is here with his choir to perform a
Caribbean Christmas Concert at the York Catholic District School Board Centre
for the Arts at 525 New Westminster Drive in Thornhill, December 7th, 8th and
9th. There is a poster on each of the
bulletin boards and contact numbers should you wish tickets. Two of the choir members will join our choirs
for all Masses that weekend. On Saturday, December 8, after the 5PM Mass, we
will proceed outside to Atwater Avenue for our 2nd Annual Tree
Blessing and Lighting ceremony.
Afterwards, there will be food and drinks in the hall.
The
season of Advent is upon us shortly and we are in the midst of preparing fridge
prayers, the ‘O’ Antiphons and the Advent wreath. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the
vestibule for families to sign up to light the candles on each of the weekends
of Advent. Please write your family name
and contact number in the space provided.
On
the weekend of December 1st and 2nd, our candidates for
reconciliation and first communion, along with their parents, will participate
in the installation ceremony for sacraments. The children will receive their
crosses that weekend. Please plan to
attend the 5PM, 10AM or 12 Noon Mass for this ceremony.
I
wish you all a good week!
Fr. Phil
