From the desk of Fr. Phil…

• I am not sure where the month of October has gone but, as we near its end, I wanted to share some thoughts with you. Thank you to all our altar servers and their parents who were able to attend our first meeting last Saturday. As altar servers, you are a very important part of the liturgy. Your presence and commitment to our parish is very encouraging to us all. Every one of you did very well as you performed your duties as altar servers. Thank-you!

• Thanks to all who organized, attended and contributed to the Foods of the World dinner last Sunday. The experience was very enjoyable and the food was superb. This is an excellent way to get to know each other and a great way for me to meet you too. It usually takes time to get to know your names and faces and I thank those who approached me and introduced themselves to me. Every parish is composed of two entities: Spiritual and Social and the two work together to form a healthy parish community. Let us continue to celebrate, spiritually and socially, as we build up the parish community.
• A big thank you to the Haitian Dance Troupe who performed here on October 29th. Their performance was amazing in every respect. They are certainly a group of fine young men dedicated to their art and to their God. Thanks to all those who were able to attend this performance and contribute to the building of the school for marginalized children in Haiti.
• November is the month of the Holy Souls. Please enter the names in our Holy Souls Book of those you wish prayed for at every liturgy during the month of November. May they all rest in peace. I know that, in the past, many have made donations for the holy souls in November using the special envelopes for this occasion. You may still do this if you wish and you will find those envelopes at the back of the church. Please place them in the regular collection on Sunday. You may write the names of your loved ones on the envelope but remember to inscribe their names in our new holy souls book too. Please remember that a special Mass will be celebrated on November 2nd at 7:30 PM for our departed loved ones.
• We had our first Knights of Columbus information meeting this past Monday evening. I was encouraged by the number of people who came out for that meeting. Our next meeting is on Monday, November 2nd at 8 PM, after the Mass for the faithful departed. Please feel free to join us and learn more about the formation of the Knights Council here In the parish.
• I wish you all a great week !
